Symphony No. 7

Symphony No. 7 composed between 1811 and 1812, and justifiably dubbed "The Apotheosis of Dance" by Wagner, Beethoven's Symphony 7 explores more complex expressions than ever before, combining romantic and classical elements. The symphony was premiered in Vienna on 8th December 1813 with Beethoven himself conducting in a charity concert for soldiers wounded in the recent Battle of Hanau. The result of four years of effort, it is a mature work which caused an immediate sensation and has remained a concert hall favourite ever since.
