Overview:
British pianist and Emmy award winning composer Gavin Greenaway, is set to release his eagerly anticipated 2nd solo album “Woven” on 15th February 2019. His top 40 Classical Artist Chart debut album, “il falco bianco”, was a Classic FM 'Drivetime Discovery', and has generated over 1.3 million streams since its release In 2016. Kate Bott (Classic FM) said, “It's gorgeous -- original, evocative music, beautifully played and recorded”. This time out, Greenaway takes a different and uniquely individual approach to piano composition. All the sounds on the album are produced from one upright piano, which he 'prepared' using felt, fabrics and other materials, subtly softening and transforming its natural timbre. Other unusual textures were made by strumming with a plectrum or damping strings with fingers. Up to 8 layers of piano 'orchestration' were recorded for each track, creating a Beautifully textured, organic sound.
