Sviatoslav Richter’s legendary interpretation of Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No.2, Wilhelm Kempff's classic accounts of three Beethoven Sonatas, Gundula Janowitz's transcendental performance of Strauss's Four Last Songs, timed around her 80th birthday, Mstislav Rostropovich's inspirationally expressive (and best-selling) recordings of Dvorák’s Cello Concerto with Karajan.
