Bad Company UK’s return was met with exaltation from both old-school drum & bass fans and newcomers to the genre; as one of its most pivotal acts, they helped define its darker trenches. Fresh, Maldini, Vegas and dBridge collided back onto the scene with their groundbreaking remix of theProdigy’s ‘The Day is My Enemy’, which coincided with the announcement of their signing to twenty-five-year strong dance imprint Ram Records. Following this exclusive deal, as well as the release of singles ‘Equilibrium’, ‘Nomad’ and ‘Tetris’, they’re about to drop another tearing dancefloor record, ‘Ruckus’. The digital release of their historic LPs Inside the Machine, Digital Nation, Book of the Bad and Shot down on Safari hinted at the resurgence of their classic sound and ‘Ruckus’ does not disappoint. The record features a hook which grabs you between its rumbling segments, holding you tight within its grasp throughout every pattern of pounding drum rolls and crashing percussive breakdowns. MC Spydajumps on board to give a reggae infused vocal call-to-arms, one which drives the record into all-out anarchy. This is a return to form for Bad Company UK, highlighting the quartet are still heavily influenced by their roots. After an extensive tour schedule, which has seen them deliver their music across Europe, the USA, Japan and New Zealand, ‘Ruckus’ is another step closer to their forthcoming LP on Ram Records.
