Overview:
Cat-O-Log Records, in partnership with Universal Music Enterprises, is proud to announce the reissue of Cat Stevens’ sixth Island Records LP, Buddha and the Chocolate Box. Originally released on March 19, 1974, Buddha and the Chocolate Box saw the return of both Paul Samwell-Smith as producer and Alun Davies on guitar, both having been absent on the preceding album, Foreigner. Sonically, Buddha and the Chocolate Box certainly feels like a return to the style of the Tea for the Tillerman and Teaser and the Firecat era, albeit with the musical arrangements and production gaining a new level of finesse and polish. The album’s intriguing title was the result of a plane journey during which Cat found himself to be carrying a small Buddha statue in one hand and a box of chocolates in the other. He reflected that if the plane were to crash he’d be found between these two objects that represented the spiritual and the material. Continuing from 2024’s reissue of the classic live album, Saturnight (Cat Stevens: Live In Tokyo) and the 2025 release of On The Road To Findout: Greatest Hits, Buddha and the Chocolate Box has been meticulously remastered from the original Island UK production tapes and is presented with newly refreshed artwork. Buddha and the Chocolate Box will be available on 180g black vinyl and CD.
