CHICAGO TRANSIT AUTHORITY (50TH ANNIVERSARY REMIX) Limited Gatefold 180gram Vinyl 2LP Set
Overview:
Chicago’s debut album, Chicago Transit Authority (self-titled at the time), was a groundbreaking 2LP set. Inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2014, It has been certified double platinum. It showcased the band’s imaginative writing, proficient musicality and genre- blending mix of rock, jazz, funk and pop.
Released in 1969, it stayed on the charts for a then record of 171 weeks. The album kicks off with the autobiographical “Introduction,” and includes many of the band’s most enduring hits, such as “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?,“ “Beginnings,” and “Questions 67 and 68.” Their blazing cover of the Spencer Davis Group’s “I’m A Man,” “South California Purple,” and “Free Form Guitar” all feature the signature guitar work of the late Terry Kath.
