|Thelonious Monk Monk Limited 180gram Vinyl LP
Recorded live in Copenhagen in 1963 at the peak of Monk's career. He was to feature on the cover of TIME magazine a year later, one of only four jazz artists to ever do so. Hot on the heels of Impulse's recently unearthed Coltrane number one hit album, true evidence that jazz is back in the mainstream. Monk material has amassed 100 million + streams on Spotify alone, with "'Round Midnight" garnering 11.6 million. The vinyl format is a genuine AAA release (analogue recording, analogue mix, analogue master) using the original source tapes, making it a true all-analogue, audiophile-primed product. Pressed on high quality, audiophile 180gm. Cut in-house with Gearbox's 1967 Haeco Scully lathe, the exact same lathe as Blue Note used back in the day. The album artwork features a previously unpublished photo taken by renowned British jazz journalist and photographing pioneer Val Wilmer.
