|ALESSIO BONDI SFARDO Limited Vinyl LP
“Sfardo” is the title of the debut album of Italian songwriter Alessio Bondì.
Alessio Bondì was born in Palermo, in 1988 and in his musical world he nurtures his roots, his island: Sicily. There lives the atmosphere of his childhood, deep and sweet, poetic and surreal, painted in the tones of primordial blues and of an intimate folk music.
His language is Sicilian dialect. Someone said he’s something between Rosa Balistreri, one of the landmarks of Sicilian musical tradition, and Jeff Buckley. His performances are essential, nude, absorbing. A guitar, voice, heart and bones. A journey in a land black with melancholy, inside a soul that’s joyful and shy at the same time.
In Italy he has been awarded several prizes like De André Award, but he has also some experience as a theatre and webseries actor before becoming a fully-fledged musician. He performed around Europe (Berlin, Paris, Barcelona) and in Georgia (U.S.) and took part to bilingual parallel projects with overseas artists, like for instance the duo “A Santa” (The Saint) with the brasilian songwriter Nega Lucas.
“Sfardo” is an inspired album. Ten songs of a crude yet astounding grace.
Alessio Bondì is a thoroughbred author. His writings are half-blood: They are rooted in folk music, but they blend with contemporary rhythms and the exotic sound of his native tongue, Palermo dialect.
