Overview:
The story of cult label Cinevox Record is told by five 7’’ vinyl singles for Record Store Day 2015 – 18/4/2015. Cinevox 5 is a celebration of the label in the form of a limited-run and numbered box set, dedicated to record collectors and to lovers of soundtracks worldwide, and is not to be missed! Cinevox 5 summarises the work of a unique label which has been able to build a catalogue of soundtrack gold since 1960 – one which, counting collaborations with the greatest soundtrack composers of our time, continues to provide a source of inspiration for artists everywhere in the world. Sophisticatedly moving across different genres, from auteur works to exploitation movies, Cinevox Record’s productions have represented milestones in the history of soundtrack: from the illustrious collaboration between Ennio Morricone and Sergio Leone on the Western classic Giù la testa (Duck, you Sucker!) to the overwhelming success of Profondo Rosso (Deep Red), Dario Argento’s horror milestone, which is turning forty this very year. Cinevox 5 presents Cinevox Record’s different strands, represented by five 7’’ each containing a great name in the history of film music. In addition to the previously mentioned themes from Duck, you Sucker! and Deep Red, the box set includes Stelvio Cipriani’s theme for La polizia sta a guardare (The Great Kidnapping), Bixio-Frizzi-Tempera’s Febbre da cavallo (Horse Fever) and Piero Umiliani’s 5 bambole per la luna d’agosto (Five dolls for an August Moon). The titles all reflect the diverse genres which Cinevox has engaged with over the years, and bear witness to the label’s strong and ongoing relationship with the seventh art. To underline the diverse five 7’’ vinyl singles each are presented in five different colours. The tracklist and the artwork faithfully reflect and reproduce the productions as they were released originally, with the exception of Five Dolls for an August Moon, previously unreleased and issued here on 7” vinyl for the first time. This is the real deal for collectors and features as it’s B-side an unedited song played by Balletto di Bronzo that hadn’t been included in the original soundtrack. Cinevox 5 marks a return to vinyl in the label’s history. The box set is intended mostly as a gift for collectors and passionate listeners who over the years have contributed to creating and furthering the Cinevox legend. Complete with a 14 page booklet containing extended liner notes and rare and unreleased images from the Cinevox archives, the box set comes in a limited and numbered edition of 500 copies. Cinevox 5 is destined to become a cult classic.
