Madfish release Pendragon's new studio album on vinyl. 'Men Who Climb Mountains' is a 180g double black vinyl set with an 8 page booklet featuring lyrics with stunningly emotive artwork created by Killiustration.
Pendragon formed in 1978 and over the past 30-odd years have built up a fanatical fanbase around the world, releasing 9 albums along with countless EPs, live and mini-albums, most of these have been released on their own Toff Records label.
Recorded at Thin Ice Studios 'Men Who Climb Mountains' is the band's tenth studio album and first with new drummer Craig Blundell, following the departure of Scott Higham plus has female vocalist of Riff's Bar 'Tiggy' York guesting. Pendragon have never been shy of citing their eclectic influences which can be heard throughout the MWCM whether it be the track 'In Bardo' which as strong echoes of jazz-guitarist Al Di Meola & Pat Methany, to the instrumental breaks in 'Come Home Jack' that would make guitar heroes David Gilmour, Andy Latimer & Mark Knopfler proud. 'Beautiful Soul' builds from the quiet guitar & vocal soul searching to crunchy guitar and huge stadium flourishes with a chorus that sticks in your head.
Pendragon's leading force Nick Barrett explains the conceptual idea behind the new album is one of people pushing themselves and learning more about themselves through times of adversity, highlighted by the quote from polar explorer Ernest Shackleton at the beginning of the artwork booklet: 'We had seen God in His splendors, Heard the text that Nature renders, We had reached the naked soul of man.'
